"As promised, the VTFEA has been keeping tabs on the status of the locality pay for our area. In my email to you on December 5, 2016 I provided the information we had up to that point in response to many inquiries from our members, which was basically that as of our last receipt of information, it did not appear that any Vermont localities had been included on the list submitted for approval by the President’s Pay Agent . Today I am happy to report that yesterday we received notification that the President’s Pay Agent, in their memo to the President dated December 5, 2016, has tentatively approved establishing two new pay localities, Burlington, VT and Virginia Beach, VA, after appropriate rule making. We do not know when the rule making process will begin, how long it will take, the area it will include (other than Burlington/South Burlington), or the amount of the locality pay rate. You can read the entire report here. Unfortunately, we do not have more information at this time, but will keep you informed as new developments unfold. We know that many of you work outside of the Burlington/South Burlington area but it still has not been determined what commuting area the new locality rate will encompass. We are hopeful and very excited about this great news and wanted you to know as soon as possible.
We will continue to keep you informed as we receive further information."
